Community Members

Our community members are at the heart of healthy communities and include all who live, learn, work, play, and pray. The city of Merced was one of the very first places Hmong people resettled to after the Secret War. Merced made a promise to the Hmong community to help take care of its people. The Hmong community experienced genocide, persecution and lost their homes by helping the US during the Vietnam War.

Over 40 years later, we are fighting to change the systems that were created years ago to reflect the needs of our Hmong community. The Hmong community is lacking in resources and opportunities that’ll help move families into the future. Let us come together to share our stories, our experiences, and our pride so that Merced knows we are here to stay, and that this is our home!
